If you love thick, bakery-style chocolate chip cookies, this recipe is for you. These jumbo cookies have crisp edges, soft centers, and plenty of melty chocolate in every bite. They’re big, bold, and perfect for sharing… although you might not want to!
One of my favorite tricks for these cookies is using cold European butter instead of softened butter. It helps create a thicker cookie with rich flavor and the perfect chewy texture.
Recipe Details
Yield: 12 jumbo cookies
Bake Temperature: 375°F
Bake Time: 12–15 minutes
Ingredients
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups unsalted butter (cold European butter works beautifully)
1 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 cups chocolate chips
(I like to use 1 cup chocolate chunks and 1 cup chocolate chips for extra texture.)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Mix until well combined.
- Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and chunks.
- Let dough chill for 30-60 minutes for thicker cookie.
- Use a 1/4 cup measuring cup to scoop large portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Leave space between cookies since these are large.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes, until the edges are golden brown and the centers are still soft.
- Allow cookies to cool for several minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
My Favorite Cookie Tips
• Baking on parchment paper helps cookies bake evenly and prevents sticking.
• Using cold European butter adds extra richness and helps create thicker cookies.
• Mixing chocolate chunks and chips gives the cookies a bakery-style look and texture.
These jumbo chocolate chip cookies are everything a great cookie should be — thick, chewy, buttery, and loaded with chocolate. They’re the kind of cookies that disappear quickly once they come out of the oven.
